Bittorrent and slow downloads on PlusNet

It’s all starting to make sense!

It seems that whichever P2P app I use I never get a decent download speed, and I think I’ve found out why. Even though I signed up to PlusNet’s "Premier" product a few years ago, which is designed to allow P2P downloads, they do actually perform traffic shaping and throttle back P2P traffic during peak hours. I remember getting really  good throughput a couple of years ago, but as PlusNet have changed their T&C’s and even the name of the products they sell, it seems that P2P has been one casualty.

Here’s a table from their web site that lists their traffic shaping priorities, as you can see P2P gets a pretty raw deal in the evenings…
